Allen Chiau

Allen Chiau, 80, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 in Seattle, Washington.

He was born December 10, 1943 in Hong Kong to Chung Shwu and Florence. After graduating from St. Joseph College in Hong Kong, he attended University of Hawaii. He began his career as an engineer in the Prudhoe Bay oil field in Alaska. He met his wife, Becky, in 1983 in Hong Kong where they also had their daughter. The family moved to Anchorage, Alaska in 1997. After retiring from his second career at the United States Postal Service in 2017, Allen and Becky traveled the world. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, they moved to Seattle to live with their daughter.

Allen could fix almost anything and always found the best deals. He loved traveling and eating delicious cuisine all over the world with his family, but also enjoyed a good local beer with his close friends. He will be dearly missed and will always hold a place in our hearts.

He is survived by his wife, Becky; his daughter, Yvonne; his son-in-law, Travis Leonard; and his sister, Phyllis Leong. A private inurnment will be held at Lake View Cemetery in Seattle. In lieu of flowers, we invite you to give blood at your local blood bank or to make a donation to your choice of charity.
