Carol Garland

Carol Hill Garland, age 68, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2025, in Shoreline, Washington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas C. Garland and Jean Hill Garland. She is survived by her daughter, Leigh Ann Shaw Cannady, and her three sisters, Cheryl (Joseph) Chasin, Janet (Randy) Akerson, and Linda Dodson.

Born in Seattle and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida, Carol worked for many years in the property and casualty insurance industry. She would tell you right now that you need more uninsured motorist coverage. Carol inherited in full the family crafting gene (she especially enjoyed knitting and sewing), our love of books (Tolkien and true crime were particular favorites), a deep love of animals, and a passion for music. She loved Mozart and Beethoven and took voice lessons throughout adulthood.

She was a devout member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where she loved singing in the choir and teaching RCIA classes.

She will be interred at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline following a requiem mass on November 13, 2025, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church at 10:00 AM, following the recitation of the Rosary at 9:30 AM. The church is located at 5050 8th Ave NE, Seattle, Washingtion, 98105.
