Gary Hitoshi Sakai

Gary Hitoshi Sakai was born on December 15, 1955 in Seattle Washington, son of Enjiro and Sumi Sakai. Gary passed away on July 5, 2023.
He was a graduate of Cleveland High School and the University of Washington majoring in journalism. He actively participated in the Imperials Drum and Bugle Corps during the 1970’s and was a contributing journalist for local publications such as the Beacon Hill News, Capitol Hill Times, Northwest Access, the University of Washington Daily and the national USA Today.
Gary was employed by the US Post Office for almost 40 years. He was quiet, kind, gentle and generous to all that knew him. His survivors include sister Margie Dyment, brother George Sakai, nephews Sean Dyment, Eddie Dyment, David Sakai and niece Autumn Sakai Bystrom. Gary had a very large extended family. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
