Howard Ying Dong

Howard left this world peacefully on May 10, 2023 in Seattle, with his family lovingly by his side. Howard was predeceased by his father Tom, his mother Chow Shee, his wife Evelyn, his sisters Marguerite and Kathy, and his brothers Vincent and Bruce. Howard is survived by his five sons, five daughters-in-law, and six grandchildren.

Howard was born and raised in Seattle and lived most of his life here. Howard married Evelyn in 1956, unfortunately Evelyn passed away in 1989. Howard will be buried alongside with his beloved wife Evelyn, his parents, and his grandparents in Lake View Cemetery at Seattle, Washington.

Howard enlisted in the United States Army during the height of the Korean War in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1953. After earning his architectural degree from University of Washington in 1954, he established roots in Seattle and found the architectural firm “Howard Dong Associates”. Over a span of more than 60 years, Howard developed a successful portfolio of commercial and residential projects throughout the Seattle area. Howard was a recognizable and accomplished architect in Seattle area.

Howard’s retirement years were spent enjoying his grandchildren, weekly lunch with his friends of 70 years, occasionally designing houses for families and friends, and managing his family partnerships. He lived a simple and fulfilled life.

Howard will be remembered by all of us. When this time came, he carried himself with dignity and strength. He will be forever missed and will always hold a special place in our hearts.
