Luca Matthew Giliberto died suddenly at Children's Hospital in Seattle on September 7. He was the son of John Paul Giliberto, M.D., and Sarah Jane Atkinson, M.D., and the younger brother of Penelope Jane Giliberto.
Luca was born in Seattle on Nov. 30, 2021. He was a sweet, wild, beautiful baby boy, with a huge, toothy grin, who gave incredible joy to his family for the 21 months of his life. That life was just beginning, as he learned to talk, swim, color, always while trying to keep up with his big sister. He was a wonderful fusion of his mom and dad. He loved airplanes, birds, tickles, hugs, cooking with his toy kitchen, and the swings at Volunteer Park. We will hold him in our hearts forever.
In addition to his father, mother, and sister, he is survived by his paternal grandparents, Matthew and Mary Jean Giliberto of Toronto, and his maternal grandparents, Rick and Jane Atkinson of Washington, D.C., as well as uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Visitation will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 732 18th Ave East, Seattle, on Sept. 14 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Sept. 15 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's.
