Pete Katsumi Tsuchikawa

December 20, 1952 — April 18, 2026

Pete Katsumi Tsuchikawa was born on December 20, 1952 in Seattle, WA to Masakatsu (Mud) and Wilma Tsuchikawa. He passed away peacefully with Grace at his side on April 18, 2026 at Great Leaf Adult Family Home Care.

In his more athletic days, he played football, basketball, volleyball and bowled. Pete also coached youth basketball for SCAA (Seattle Chinese Athletic Association).

Growing up, he was in Scouts and played in the Seattle Buddhist Church Drum and Bugle Corp. He enjoyed collecting baseball/basketball cards, cheering for the local sports teams and going to the casino.

He worked at Star Laundry, Arco Gas Station, Columbia Greenhouse and the Seattle School District - where he retired in 2019.

Pete met Grace while working with her at Columbia Greenhouse. They later married in June 1977.

Pete faced significant health challenges starting in 2008 when he was diagnosed with end-stage renal disease and diabetes. He received kidney dialysis from 2008 to 2013. In 2013, he got a kidney transplant - which failed in 2021. He went back on dialysis until his last days.

Since February 2024, he survived 6 amputation surgeries, Sepsis, C. diff, COVID and MRSA. He then spent his time in and out of the hospital and rehab until eventually residing at Great Leaf Adult Family Home Care in July 2024.

Pete will always be remembered for his sarcasm, witty remarks and great sense of humor - as he was the life of any party and made people laugh up to his last days with his notorious back scratcher, which he used for everything!

Pete is survived by Grace (wife of 48 yrs), sons Trevor (Marisa) and Troy (Aimee), 6 grandchildren (Taylor, Tanna, Theo, Tori, Tani and Taryn), sister Linda (Pep) Visaya and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son Tyler, parents Masakatsu (Mud) and Wilma Tsuchikawa and siblings Trudi and Mason.
