Teri Jo Kertson

August 28, 1947 — December 19, 2025

Seattle, Washington

Teri Jo Kertson, of Seattle, Washington, died unexpectedly on December 19th, leaving a huge hole in the lives of all who loved her. She was born on August 28, 1947, in Salem, Oregon, to Inez and George Kertson, and grew up in Everett and Long Beach, Washington.

Teri graduated from Ilwaco High School in 1965 and from St. Martin's College in 1969, later earning her MBA from the University of Washington. She built a successful career in banking and financial consulting.

In 1983, Teri married the love of her life, Ron Uno, and embraced all Seattle had to offer. They rarely missed a Seahawks, Storm, or Sounders home game and shared a love of dance and theater.

Teri and Ron were avid travelers, frequently bringing nieces and nephews along. Their journeys took them to Botswana, Egypt, Sri Lanka, China, Russia, Japan, many European countries, and across the United States. Most recently, the four Kertson sisters were grateful to spend several days together visiting Victoria and Vancouver, Canada. Wherever Teri travelled, she sought out afternoon tea, and in fact was so persnickety about her tea that she always carried her own tea bags to ensure optimal satisfaction.

Teri was gifted with many talents. She was an exceptional seamstress, making her own business suits during her working years and creating entire wardrobes for her nieces' dolls. Her family fondly remembers the delicious fudge and cookies she made at the holidays.

Above all, Teri is remembered for being exceptionally kind, thoughtful, and generous, always ready to help with just a single phone call. She believed deeply in family and community and spent much of her life volunteering with non-profit organizations. Her courage, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and community will continue to inspire all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Ron Uno; her sisters, Toni Basler, Cydni Kertson, and Kim Kertson; her nieces and nephews, Shelby and Jim Hopkins, Kyle, Jennifer, and Nicole Uno, and Emma Satchell; and her grand-nieces and grand-nephews, Abby and Jim Hopkins, Mia and Charlotte Uno and Hugo Carbone.

A service to honor Teri's life will be held later this spring. In lieu of flowers, Teri would be delighted if you would drink some decent tea and make an emergency preparedness kit for yourself.
