Terry Okazaki

Terry Okazaki passed away peacefully at home in Seattle on June 28, 2026 at the age of 103. She was born Teruyo Kimura on September 13, 1922 to Suejiro and Haruyo Kimura in Tacoma, Washington. Soon after the family moved to Clallam Bay, Washington where they lived until they were interned to Tule Lake, California and then Minidoka, Idaho. 

After WWII they settled in Seattle where she met and married Kete Okazaki. She started working as a telephone operator and secretary, then after raising three children, in shipping for the Downtown Bon Marche/Macy’s and Sur La Table. Terry was active in her kids’ lives through PTA, Scouting, and the Jefferson Park Rec Center making many lifelong friends throughout. 

Terry is predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Kete; siblings Minoru, Eiji, Taky and Fumiko Kimura. She is survived by her children Robert (Susan), Janet (Jim) Bennett and Don; granddaughters Jamie (Connor) Baldwin, Jules Bennett; and sisters June Hori and Mary Randeberg.
