Wing Foo Chin

1923 ~ 2013

Wing Foo Chin passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on May 6th.

Born in Canton, China, Wing immigrated to the U.S. when he was 15 years old. With little formal education and much hard work, he became a successful and proud business owner, operating the Hi Hat Cafe in West Seattle for 18 years and Summit Foods in Capitol Hill for 12 years. He was also a lifetime member of the Gee How Oak Tin Benevolent Association. After retiring in 1980, he enjoyed traveling, gardening, watching sports, and doting on his grandchildren.

Wing is survived by Oi Jean, his beloved wife of 66 years. He is also survived by his seven children Lila Quan, Dora (Ronald) Fong, Gary (Ying), Anita (Dan) Novak, Diana, Rita, and Patricia (Bill Calderhead Jr.), as well as six grandsons, three granddaughters, and two great-granddaughters. We will miss our husband, Daddy, Yeh Yeh, Gung Gung, and Bok Gung dearly.

Services were held at Bonney~Watson, 1732 Broadway, Seattle at 1:00pm on Tuesday, May 14th, 2013.  Remembrances may be made to Kin On Health Care.
