Yuzo TOKITA
September 8, 1939--November 21, 2025
Yuzo passed away peacefully in his sleep. He is survived by his wife, Lilly; son Jason; grandson Phoenix Tokita; and 2 step children, Ami Joy and Michael Kato.
He was born and raised in Seattle, graduated from St. Mary's and Garfield High School. After spending some time in college, he enlisted in the US Air Force where he completed his college degree at Troy State University in Alabama. He became a very skilled F4 fighter pilot during the Vietnam War, receiving many commendation medals for his accomplishments. He went on to become a fighter weapons instructor. He retired as a Lt. Col. after 20 years of service.
After retirement, he dedicated his time to the Nisei Vieterans Organization to continue the legacy of the WWII Nissei Veterans. He held 3 terms as Commander. During that time, one big project he accomplished was insuring the surviving WWII Nisei Veterans attend the "CONGRESSIONAL GOLD MEDAL" Ceremony held in Washington DC. The medal is on display at the Smithsonian Museum.
Yuzo had a special place in his heart for children. He adores his grandson Phoenix as well as his nieces and nephews as they were growing up. They recently shared stories how Uncle Yazoo (as he was called) turned out to be their favorite uncle.
His other hobbies were his love for fishing, golf, and many trips to Hawaii with his wife and friends.
He will be missed by all.
Celebration of Life is being planned for after the holidays.
In place of flowers, donations to NVC, JCCCW, or your choice of charity is greatly appreciated.
