Nancy Milan Obituary

Nancy Madge (Alley) Milan was born November 30,1941 in Tacoma, WA.  She had one older sister, Kathy Durham.

She attended Stadium Highschool where she was a cheerleader and voted most enthusiastic.  This is where she met the one and only love of her life, Paul Milan.  They started dating their sophomore year andhave been together ever since.

Nancy attended the University of Washington while Paul was at Seattle University.  After graduating, Nancy was a teacher of the deaf whilePaul pursued his PhD in French.  They were married in 1964 and settled down on Capitol Hill in Seattle.

Nancy continued her education and received a master’s in teaching at Seattle University, focusing on supporting special education students.  She was very dedicated to the students and families she worked with, always advocating for their needs and a pioneer of inclusion with a team approach to teaching.

Nancy and Paul were avid travelers, and even lived abroad with their family during the 1970’s in Grenoble, France.  While there she learned to become an amazing cook and was always baking for friends, neighbors and various staff events that her family was involved with. She also enjoyed watching sports including Husky football, as well as her grandchildren’s events such as soccer, cheer, dance and baseball games.

Nancy absolutely loved hosting family events such as gourmetThanksgiving meals, and Christmas morning brunch with homemade cinnamon rolls.  Her dedication to family was a constant and she has always been a pillar of the family.  She was always thinking of others and picking up a special treat for her beloved grandkids.

Nancy and Paul were an amazing, generous couple and after passing away in her sleep on October 23, 2023, she can finally be reunited with the love of her life in Heaven.

Nancy is survived by her daughter Kate Batra, her partner Laura Greenhow, and daughter Carla Holmes, her husband Walter Jackson, as well as grandchildren, Ally and Cole Batra and Evan and Abby Holmes. Details about a celebration of life will be shared at a later date.
