Jim Bozony

November 29, 1966 — July 5, 2025

Lynnwood

James Richard Bozony formerly of Ridgecrest, CA and lastly Lynnwood, WA, on July 5th, 2025, has passed on to the great beyond. He was son to Sandra Lee Bozony and John Payne Bozony, and brother to John M. Bozony. Jim was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on November 29, 1966.

The Bozony family moved to Ridgecrest in 1970 where dad was stationed at Naval Weapons Center China Lake. Jim grew up in Ridgecrest where he enjoyed his many friends and riding and racing dirt bikes in the surrounding desert. He was active in the middle school marching and in the high school jazz bands playing drums. After graduating high school, Jim stayed in Ridgecrest working until he got the opportunity in 1991 to follow brother John up to the Seattle area for work.

Once in the Seattle area Jim worked many different jobs and met many people. As was of the era, getting together with friends led to the creation of a few different bands to play blues-rock music. Lode-King, Trouble River and finally Unknown Authority found their way together and out playing live. If you got an opportunity to see these bands surely you were entertained.

Around 1999 Jim and John were welcomed into the NW Legends GTO club. Unknown Authority playing at the club’s muscle car meets over the years. This helped earn them Member of the Year twice. Jim enjoyed these events tremendously and partying with either the car guys or the biker guys, he always had a great time. Jim’s 1970 GTO was always a welcome sight when it would show up for the club shows.

Along the way Jim got a Harley and made the trip to Sturgis a few times. He was well liked and respected by the biker community. Also, around this time, he started restoring various year Honda CR500’s, the first being his original bike. Over 3 different years he was invited and took 3 different bikes to The One Moto show in Portland. Always getting great praise from the attendees and sponsors.

Jim worked at Penguin windows running their warehouse. He enjoyed that for a few years until he got his dream job working at Lake View Cemetery. Jim had worked at other cemeteries, but he was quite happy to finally be offered the job at Lake View. Over the course of many years, he became the head groundskeeper and burial technician. He could run any machine and fix anything. Always with an eye toward safety and speed.

Jim had a wicked sense of humor and if you knew him, you know what that means.

Jim is gone too soon, and he will be sorely missed. Not only by his brother, but by all those whose lives he touched, and he interacted with daily. Jim was a huge fan of music, some of his favorites being Rory Gallagher, Govt Mule, Dick Dale and Joe Bonamassa to name only a few. After moving to Seattle concerts were a main staple of his life. Seeing Govt Mule for $12 at the Phoenix Underground in 1999 being a standout. Also seeing Joe Bonamassa at the Sunset Tavern in Ballard for $7. Following Govt Mule from Portland, to Seattle and up to Vancouver and the same for Popa Chubby. There are just too many great shows that we went to, to list here. Suffice it to say there aren’t many bands/performers we didn’t see during his time here.

Final arrangements are being handled by Emmick Family Funeral Home ~ Lake View.
